| The William H. Kennedy VFW Post #4071 was organized April 19, 1945, following World War II. It was named after William H. Kennedy, a casualty of the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, aboard the U.S. Okalahoma. | |
The VFW Post #4071 meets at 7:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of every month at the Titonka Community Center. They join with the American Legion to provide a color guard for military funerals and graveside rites, the Indian Day Parade and the Memorial Day Program. They also do a flag presentation to Veteran's families. They donate money to various veteran's organizations. They have also donated flags to several community buildings in Titonka. The local post also does the flag rasing on holidays and national observances.
